Red to orange crystals. Slightly hygroscopic. Crystal water is lost at 100 ℃ and begins to decompose at about 400 ℃. Soluble in water, insoluble in ethanol, the aqueous solution is acid. The pH of 1% aqueous solution is 4, and that of 10% aqueous solution is 3.5. The relative density is 2.348. Melting point 356.7 ℃ (no water). It has strong oxidability and can cause combustion by friction or impact with organic matters.
